Andante et AllegroGuillaume Balay
Guillaume Balay
Like many French works of that time, it was written as a contest piece and belongs to the classic repertoire of the French trumpet school.
The work begins with a lyrical Andante and continues with a lively Allegro full of articulation and brilliance. It is a very good choice for intermediate players preparing exams and recitals, and the accompaniment helps you learn the tempos and piano cues.
Practice tips
- Play the Andante with a singing, French-style sound.
- Keep the Allegro light and clearly articulated.
- Practise the transition between the two sections.
